Hi folks...
One thing that I found so difficult to do was admitting our own mistakes. Not to mention of the willingness of accepting criticisms, admitting mistakes are not an easy job to do.
In learning, we know that before we started to consider of doing the improvement we need to admit the mistakes that we have committed first. After then we start to think of correction plan and activities related to the mistakes.
I always reminded my children the connection between mistakes and improvement. Just like what Alfred has said to the young Bruce...why he fall..because he can learn to pick himself up....
Even in Islam it is clearly stated that the process of reflection need to be done all the time continuously. Today supposed to be better than yesterday...and tomorrow should be better than today. What ever we say, reflecting on the past, especially on the mistakes that we have committed is crucial for the betterment of our lives.
We sometimes failed to see the importance of mistakes in learning. Seems that we afraid to allow our learner of making mistakes. Piaget did mention about equilibrium and disequilibrium in the mind. Both are important in stimulating the learner's learning process. Mistakes in this sense will allow the learner to see the learning in more comprehensive manner...what gone wrong...why...how...or even to the extent of how to avoid making same mistakes for second or several times. The process of maturity will not be developed not until the learner able to see the problem in more comprehensive manner.
Taking the point that nobody in perfect...this understanding I think is important to the learning. Too much emphasise to the mistakes will only enhancing the chances of developing fear and afraidness among learners. In fact in learning those feelings and attitude should not be encouraged. The dangerous parts is that we develop the feeling of fear without intention....
Wise guidance in terms of mistakes tolerance is needed I would say. In terms of learning the robust personality in dealing with mistakes and improvement is the ultimate challenge for us.
Lets try how we can educate our children while dealing with the mistakes...

As we all know admitting mistakes can be considered as gateways to more interesting exploration. I learned so much from my mistakes and at least I will have something to deal with - improving my past mistakes....
